Holiday Dog Boarding near Beachwood: How to Get Your Dog Ready

The holidays are one of the busiest times of year for dog boarding in Cleveland's east side. If you are traveling for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, or New Year's, a little planning goes a long way toward a smooth, stress-free stay for your dog. Here is our checklist for holiday boarding at K-11 Canine Care in Warrensville Heights, just minutes from Beachwood.

1. Book early

Holiday weeks fill up quickly. Reserve your dates through our client portal as soon as your travel plans are set.

2. Complete the evaluation day first

Every new dog completes a free evaluation day before their first overnight. It lets us learn your dog's temperament, energy level, and needs, and it lets your dog get familiar with our team and facility before you leave. Try to schedule it at least a week or two before your trip.

3. Check vaccines

Dogs need current Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, uploaded to your client portal account. Dogs over 8 months must be spayed or neutered. Check expiration dates now so there are no surprises at drop-off.

4. Pack smart

  • Your dog's regular food, portioned if possible. Sudden food changes can upset stomachs.

  • Any medications, with clear instructions.

  • A familiar item that smells like home, if your dog finds it comforting.

5. Plan drop-off and pick-up times

We are open 7 days a week, 7:00am to 7:00pm. There is no drop-off or pick-up between 11:00am and 3:00pm, when dogs rest and recharge.

6. Add enrichment to the stay

Boarded dogs join daycare during the day at no extra cost, so they are never just waiting in a kennel. To make the stay even better, add enrichment like Fast CAT lure sprints, agility, nature walks, puzzle feeders, scent work, or one-on-one cuddle and playtime. A holiday treat like dog-safe ice cream or a paw print keepsake makes the stay a little more special. See every enrichment option here.

7. Schedule a bath before pick-up

Add a bath to the end of the stay and bring home a clean dog, just in time for holiday guests. Learn more about grooming and bathing at K-11.

Stay in the loop while you travel

Every boarding stay includes a free report card, so you know how your dog is doing while you are away.
